Going into the theater to see Once the Musical I honestly wasn’t expecting much. I didn’t see the movie so I had no idea what the story was about, and from what I’ve seen of the show it didn’t look that interesting. WOW I WAS SO WRONG because this musical is beautiful. Simply beautiful. It’s simple but so powerful.
I am pretty much obsessed with the soundtrack, but the song I’m the most obsessed with is “Gold” which is sung by Steve Kazee. If I need a song to quickly relax me and put me at ease I will play this song. There’s even an a cappella version but that isn’t the song for this week. Listen to the album on Spotify or just find it on YouTube.
If you’re looking for a happy and hilarious musical, you want to check out Monty Python’s Spamalot. Also while you’re at it make sure you watch the movie too. The entire soundtrack is great, honestly and I’m still sad it is no longer on Broadway. But I’m crossing my fingers for a revival soon!
This Musical Mondays’ song is “Find Your Grail” and it’s so good. Sooo good. Sara Ramirez is my Queen. It’s an overly dramatic song which makes it so great. Now go on, listen! Here is the link to the album on Spotify and below you’ll find a YouTube link for the song.
The song I’m recommending this week is “Lost in the Wilderness” from the musical Children of Eden. I stumbled upon this musical by accident and I’m so happy it happened! I was listening to the Godspell soundtrack on Spotify and this song came up. I was fascinated from the first note and by the end of the song I was already looking up the musical so I could hear more.
I think the entire soundtrack as a whole is very good, but “Lost in the Wilderness” is possibly my favorite song. I just… I just love it. You can listen to the album on Spotify or just find it on YouTube.
Yup, the song I’m recommending this week is called “My Unfortunate Erection,” you are reading that correctly. The song is from the musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, such a hilarious, touching, and amazing show.
You can find the soundtrack on Spotify, but if you don’t have an account you can find it on Youtube. Now, back to the song about an erection. It’s literally about an unfortunate erection. Musicals are magical.
