Romeo and Juliet on Broadway… AND ORLANDO BLOOM.

Now that that’s out of the way I can begin.

I saw Romeo and Juliet tonight and Orlando played Romeo. Gonna admit that I am not much of a Shakespeare fan so the play didn’t wow me much. But it was good, it was interesting to see some modern elements included… like Romeo’s motorcycle.

I wanted to stay cool and collected. I really didn’t know how I would react because I’ve never met or seen a LotR actor in real life. I was doing fine when I was in line to get in the theatre, but as soon as I entered I just CRIED. Not a lot, just a few tears. I kept thinking “Oh my god…. I’m going to see Legolas!!!”

Orlando entered the show on a motorcycle. And seeing him on stage was so surreal. I actually saw him. We were in the same room. Orlando Bloom. LEGOLAS.
I admit that I sang Taking the Hobbits to Isengard a couple times in my head when Romeo was talking… I should have concentrated more on the show.

I felt strangely SO proud of Orlando. I saw him in FotR in 2001, and now look at him! Huge celebrity.

I made sure to ask one of the ushers the best way to exit the theatre so I could be in front to get an autograph. Once the cast did their final bow I RAN FOR THE DOOR.

I made it to the front luckily! It felt weird being alone, I had no one to freak out with me! The other cast members walked out of the stage door, all waving at us… they knew we were all waiting for the same person.

I COULDN’T BREATHE for a few seconds when Orlando came out. I cried again when this happened. I waited, silently, painfully, for him to come to my side and once he was directly in front of me I didn’t know what to do. So I just smiled, put out my Playbill for him to sign and said thank you. That’s all I said. I wish I said something clever! AND HE LOOKED AT ME. It was less than a second but it’s okay, I shall cherish this memory.

He came and went fairly quickly which was disappointing but not unexpected. He would never get to leave if he signed everything and took photos with everyone. After he left in his car I looked at my autograph and cried. Again. Just an emotional mess.

I can’t believe I saw Orlando Bloom.
I need to go breathe in a paper bag or something now.

I did sneak out some extra playbills (shhh), two are being given away to specific people. Not sure what I’ll do with the third one yet.

Despite all our jokes, I'm so happy for you Myla!
I remember when a friend of mine told me about her meet with Orlando at Venice Film Festival ages ago, she said me the same thing you wrote: “…he looked at me”. And she was moved. And so I am for you 🙂

I'm so happy for you. I hope he is the first of many other LOTR actors for you to meet 😉

Due to RingCon I was fortunate to meet some LOTR actors and believe me, my reaction was everytime the same as yours. I was close to crying, quiet and the only thing I manage to say with my gigantic grin was “thank you”.

I so wish I could go and see that play on Broadway!

Seeing Orlando Bloom must have been one of those moment you will never forget, I'm sure!

Thanks for sharing your experience! 🙂
